04 - 2 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut
05 - 2 tbsp mini chocolate chips (optional)
06 - 2 tbsp freeze-dried raspberries or strawberries (optional)
07 - Pinch of flaky sea salt

# How To Make It:

01 - Line a 9x13 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - Peel bananas and cut into 1/4 inch rounds.
03 - Place banana slices in a single slightly overlapping layer about 1/2 inch thick on the prepared baking sheet, shaping into a rectangle or oval.
04 - Melt the chopped dark chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-30 second intervals, stirring until smooth, or melt using a double boiler.
05 - Evenly pour the melted chocolate over the banana layer, spreading gently with a spatula to cover completely.
06 - Sprinkle chopped almonds, shredded coconut, mini chocolate chips, freeze-dried berries, and flaky sea salt evenly over the chocolate layer.
07 - Place the tray in the freezer for at least 2 hours until firm.
08 - Remove from freezer, break or slice into pieces. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the freezer up to 2 weeks.

# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • It requires zero cooking skill and zero baking temperament, just focus and good timing.
  • The contrast between crispy chocolate shell and creamy banana interior is genuinely thrilling every single time.
  • You can customize it endlessly based on whatever you have hiding in your pantry, making it feel both indulgent and resourceful.
02 -
  • Chocolate that's too hot will melt the banana layer below it, which sounds fine until you realize the whole thing turns mushy instead of having that satisfying textural contrast.
  • The moment it comes out of the freezer is the moment it tastes best; after even an hour sitting out, the banana gets soft and the chocolate loses its snap.
03 -
  • If your chocolate is too thick or hard to spread, use the back of a warm spoon dipped in hot water to smooth it out without breaking the banana layer.
  • Freeze the toppings for a few minutes before sprinkling them if your kitchen is warm; cold toppings won't sink into the chocolate and will stay on top where they belong.
