Zesty citrus meets warming spices in these convenient frozen wellness cubes

# What You'll Need:

→ Citrus

01 - 3 large lemons, juiced (about ¾ cup juice)

→ Roots & Spices

02 - 2-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
03 - 2-inch piece fresh turmeric, peeled and chopped (or 1 teaspoon ground turmeric)
04 - 1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

→ Liquid

05 - 1 cup filtered water

→ Sweetener (optional)

06 - 1–2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (optional, for taste)

# How To Make It:

01 - Place lemon juice, chopped ginger, chopped turmeric (or ground turmeric), water, black pepper, and sweetener (if using) into a blender canister.
02 - Process on high speed until completely smooth and no visible chunks remain.
03 - Pour mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bowl, pressing firmly to extract maximum liquid and remove pulp.
04 - Transfer strained liquid to ice cube trays, dividing evenly among compartments.
05 - Place trays in freezer for at least 2 hours or until cubes are completely frozen.
06 - Pop out 2 cubes per serving. Dissolve in warm water, blend into smoothies, or consume as a concentrated wellness shot. Store remaining cubes in freezer-safe bags for up to 2 months.

# Expert Suggestions:

01 -
  • Having wellness shots ready in your freezer means you actually remember to take them instead of letting fresh ingredients rot in your crisper drawer
  • The black pepper trick isn't just folklore, it genuinely helps your body absorb turmeric's compounds better
02 -
  • Fresh turmeric stains everything permanently, so use a dedicated cutting board and wear clothes you don't care about
  • The honey option makes these not vegan, but maple syrup works perfectly for plant based versions
03 -
  • If you cannot find fresh turmeric, ground turmeric works but use half the amount since it is more concentrated
  • Let the strained mixture sit for a minute before pouring, any extra pulp will settle to the bottom and you can leave it behind
